ISSUE: Approval of 2019 Smyrna Community Event Dates
BACKGROUND: The following proposed event dates, for 2019 City of Smyrna Community events, include events that are organized by or through the Community Relations Department and include several annual events organized by or through the Parks and Recreation Department, all previously reviewed and approved by Council as annual community events. Many of these events require street closings (indicated by *), for which an outline of anticipated street closings is attached. The following dates (upon approval) should be reserved by Parks and Recreation facility management and noted and planned for by all impacted and/or services and facilities supplying City of Smyrna departments, as has been the practice in previous years.
Community event dates hold a traditional selection pattern that has been followed for 2019 with the possible exception of adjustments for holiday weeks. The exception to holiday week adjustment is the Memorial Day Ceremony to be held on Memorial Day, May 27, 2019, which is a City of Smyrna observed holiday.
Staff recommends and requests approval of the following event dates for 2019 (with notation made for events requiring street closings) and approval of all associated staff actions in support of delivery and/or production:
