Title
Approval of Personnel Policy RSK 5-0 Light/Modified/Restricted Duty and authorize Mayor to execute related document

Body
ISSUE:  There is a need for a separate and distinct policy that provides guidance and guidelines for light/modified/restricted duty.

BACKGROUND:  Light duty for work comp injuries is addressed in RSK 2-0 Worker's Compensation but no specific procedures or guidelines are provided. Also, there is no personnel policy that addresses whether the city authorizes light duty following non-work-related medical issues. While departments try, when possible, to accommodate employees placed on light duty for non-work related issues, there has been no written policy or procedures to provide guidance.

This policy provides the requested guidance and guidelines for supervisors and employees.

Studies have shown that employees tend to heal quicker when they remain active and productive.

RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:  Approval of Personnel Policy RSK 5-0 Light/Modified/Restricted Duty and authorize Mayor to execute related document
