Approval of 2015 Smyrna Community Event Dates

ISSUE: Approval of 2015 Smyrna community events.
BACKGROUND:
Proposed event dates for 2015 City of Smyrna Community events organized by the Community Relations Department (with the exception of Home for the Holidays organized by Parks & Recreation and Memorial Day which is jointly organized). The following dates should be reserved by the Community Center and noted by all impacted city departments.
Staff recommends setting the following event dates for 2015 community events requiring street closing:
Sat, April 25, 2015 - Jonquil City Jog
April 25 & 26, 2015 - Spring Jonquil Festival
Mon, May 25, 2015 - Memorial Day
Sat, June 6, 2015 - 1st Concert
Sat, July 11, 2015 - 2nd Concert
Sat, August 1, 2015 - Birthday Celebration
Sat, September 19, 2015- Taste of Smyrna
October 24 & 25, 2015 - Fall Jonquil Festival
November 11, 2015 - Veterans Day
Mon, December 2, 2015 - Home for the Holidays Tree Lighting
Event dates hold a traditional selection pattern that has been followed for 2015. Additionally, event dates have been set to avoid overlap with holiday weekends excluding the Memorial Day Ceremony to be held on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Approve submitted dates.
