Approval to record the Official City Election Results for the Runoff Municipal Election for the City of Smyrna for Mayor and Ward 2 Council held December 3, 2019. There were 7,374 ballots cast 20.15% of 36,597 registered voters. For the office of Mayor of (36,597) registered voters 7,369 votes: Ryan Campbell - 3,605 votes - 48.89% and Derek Norton - 3,764 votes - 51.04%. Ward 2 Council, 5,100 registered voters 675 votes: Andrea Blustein - 284 votes - 41.64% and Austin Wagner - 391 votes - 57.33%. Derek Norton was elected to the office of the Mayor and Austin Wagner was elected to office of Ward 2 Council.

ISSUE: Follow the conclusion of the November 5, 2019 General Election there were two (2) offices that failed to produce a candidate with 50% of the vote. For the Mayor's office, Ryan Campbell with 24.79 % of the vote and Derek Norton 47.04% of the vote went into a runoff. For the office of Ward 2 City Council, Andrea Blustein and Austin Wagner were tied and went into a runoff. The runoff election was held December 3, 2019. For the Office of the Mayor, of (36,567) registered voters there were 7,369 votes - Ryan Campbell received 3,605 votes for 48.89% and Derek Norton received 3,764 votes for 51.04%. BACKGROUND: The office of Mayor and City Council are elected and serve 4 year terms. Each elected seat runs every four (4) years. The current term of office began in 2016 and the next term will begin January 2020.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Approve the recording of the Runoff Election results for December 3, 2019.
