ISSUE AND BACKGROUND

On May 17, 2021, the City Council approved code amendments to the City's Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance to allow the on-premise sales and consumption of alcoholic beverages at private dog parks by a vote of 6-0.

The original ordinance limited alcohol sales for on-premise consumption to 25% of the gross revenue of the business. Community Development has worked with potential private dog park business owners and they have expressed that the limit on the alcohol sales to 25% of the gross revenue makes the business model unviable. The potential business owners have recommended increasing the maximum allowable alcohol sales to 50% of the gross revenue of the business.

RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION:  Community Development recommends approval of the proposed code amendment.
