ISSUE: Award RFP 14-016 Spring Road Bridge Repair to the lowest bidder E & D Contracting Services for $788,562.00 and Authorize the Mayor to execute any related documents.
BACKGROUND: Public Works requested bids for bridge repairs to the Spring Road vehicular bridge over CSX Railroad to address items found in our bridge inspection report. Those items included bent repairs, joint sealant, painting of the steel structure, guardrail and handrail repairs. Four vendors submitted bids as follows:
E & D Contracting Services $788,562.00
L.C. Whitford Co. $894,887.00
Ace Construction $937,512.45
Massana Construction $955,666.30
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Public Works, Purchasing and Croy Engineering have reviewed the bids and recommend Mayor and Council award RFP 14-016 Spring Road Bridge Repair to the lowest bidder E & D Contracting Services for $788,562.00 and authorize the Mayor to execute any related Documents.
