Body

ISSUE:  The City of Smyrna relies on Severe Weather Outdoor Warning Sirens  to warn residents of impending severe weather.  The Severe Weather Outdoor Warning Sirens are digitally controlled and can be activated from either the 911 Center or from Emergency Management (Fire Dept).   These sirens rely on our 800mhz radio system for communication/operation, and each of the sirens have a 800mhz “mobile” type radio.

BACKGROUND:  This is a P25 phase I & II radio system upgrade required by Cobb County. This is the final expenditure in the overall city-wide radio upgrade project.  In order for the system to activate the siren warning system, Phase II was required to upgrade the sirens to become compliant with the P25 radio upgrade project.
