Authorization of a contract amendment with Boutte Tree, Inc., 2144 Bolton Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 to increase the hourly rate from $75/hour to $100/hour for arborist and landscape consulting services - City of Smyrna

Body

ISSUE:  Community Development is requesting a contract amendment with Boutte Tree, Inc. to increase the hourly rate from $75/hour to $100/hour for arborist and landscape consulting services. The City has contracted with Boutte Tree, Inc. for consulting services at the same rate ($75.00/hour) since November 10, 2012. The City contracts with Boulte Tree, Inc. to provide arborist and landscape consulting services, such as landscape plan review, tree assessments, tree protection fencing inspections and tree planting inspections. Community Development has accounted for the the proposed hourly rate increase in the FY2020 budget by increasing the projected amount from $20,000 to $30,000.  Over the past three years (FY 2017 to FY2019), the City has budgeted $20,000 each year for the consulting services. The actual expenditures were $8,456.25 for FY2017, $15,318.75 for FY2018 and $21,281.25 for FY2019. Boutte Tree, Inc. has requested the hourly rate increase to cover increases in overhead costs and expenses. The proposed contract amendment will run from July 1, 2019 to July 1, 2020. 

 

BACKGROUND:  The City has contracted with Boutte Tree, Inc. for arborist  and landscaping consulting services at $75.00/hour since November 10, 2012.

 

RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:  Community Development recommends approval of the contract amendment.
