Body

ISSUE AND BACKGROUND

Sidewalk exists along the west side of King Springs Road, and in various locations along the east side of King Springs Road. However, there are no designated pedestrian crossing locations in the vicinity of Brinkley Park and Tolleson Park.

The Engineering Department recommends a raised pedestrian crossing approximately 350 ft south of the entrance to Brinkley Park. This location provides minimal impact to residential driveways and adequate sight distance. The Engineering Department also recommends a raised pedestrian crossing at the intersection of King Springs Rd & Dunn St to provide pedestrian access to Tolleson Park. Both crossings will include a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) system and pedestrian signage.

RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTIONEngineering Staff recommends approval of raised pedestrian crossings on King Springs Road in the vicinity of Brinkley Park and Tolleson Park and authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all related documents.
