ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
City staff has received an application by resident Melissa Powell to close Lee St. between Marion St. and Hickory Circle on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 pm for the Forest Hills Neighborhood Block Party. The request has been reviewed by the Fire Marshal, Police Department and administration who are supportive of the closure with the following conditions: Resident will utilize barricades provided by the Public Works department to block the street; Only one side of the street may be blocked with tents and chairs keeping one lane open to provide access for residents on that a clear route for public safety response, if needed ; and resident will hire an off-duty police officer to be on-site for the duration of the street closing.
RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: CIty staff recommends authorization for a road closure on Lee St. between Marion St. and Hickory Circle on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 pm for the Forest Hills Neighborhood Block Party by resident Melissa Powell.
