Approval of the FY13 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant (JAG) for the Bike Patrol & Accident Investigation Surveying Equipment in the amount of $17,847 awarded to the Smyrna Police Department.

ISSUE:  
The Smyrna Police Department was awarded a $17,847 grant from the US Department of Justice to start a Bike Patrol Unit and to purchase a surveying system for the department's STEP Unit which is responsible for investigating vehicle homicides and serious injury collisions.
 
A requirement of the grant is that it is open to public comment and approved by the governing body.
