Approval to award RFQ 16-003 to the lowest responsive bidders, Smyrna Police Distributors and Red the Uniform Tailor, for Police back-up weapons (Glock Model 43 9mm) and back-up weapon holsters for the amount of $37,965.80 for the weapons, $37.50 each for ankle holsters, and $48.99 each for vest holsters. Said items to be purchased from Federal Asset Forfeiture funds.

ISSUE: To purchase Glock Model 43 9MM back-up weapons and back-up weapon holsters in order to standardize the back-up weapons carried by sworn officers.
BACKGROUND: Currently, sworn officers within the Police Department are not issued back-up weapons but, by policy, can carry personal back-up weapons with which they qualify. In order to standardize the back-up weapons carried by sworn personnel, the department requests to expend asset forfeiture funds to purchase back-up weapons and holsters.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: The Chief of Police, staff, and purchasing recommends the approval to award RFQ 16-003 to the lowest responsive bidders.
