ISSUE: Recognition of the 2019-2020 Smyrna Youth Council
BACKGROUND: The Smyrna Youth Council offers a means for Smyrna’s high school students to learn about government while representing and articulating the needs of the community’s youth. The Smyrna Youth Council provides selected members an opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities through team discussion, connect to the community through project and event planning, and acquire a greater knowledge and appreciation for the political system.
Members of the 2019-2020 Smyrna Youth Council have been selected and begun meeting to discuss initiatives for the year. These students have an interest in learning about local government and possess potential leadership skills. Here are this year’s Smyrna Youth Council members:
