BACKGROUND: The City's Property & Casualty Insurance (currently with GIRMA) is up for renewal May 1 (coverage runs May 1 - April 30). As it had been 5 years since the last RFP, the City issued RFP 16-025. Two bids were submitted. After close review by HR and Purchasing, the current provider (GIRMA) was the only one to submit a complete (and competitive) bid. The other was deemed to be "non-responsive" as well as pricing not competitive.
Due to claims history over the past 5 years (especially in the Law Enforcement Liability area), the city will see a$13,707 increase in premiums over the 2015-16 renewal.
