Adoption of the 2019 millage rate of 8.99 mills

ISSUE: The 2019 millage rate needs to be formally adopted by Council.
BACKGROUND: The FY20 budget approved by council included revenue projections based on
8.99 mills. This is the formal adoption of the 8.99 millage rate. Tax information was received from Cobb County on June 27, 2019. Per the information
provided, the City would need to roll back the millage rate to 8.537 to not advertise a tax
increase. In comparison, last year's millage rollback was calculated at 8.272.
The official notice, and all required information, was posted in the MDJ on July 10th, and
July 17th. Required public meetings were held on July 17th at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on
July 24th at 10 a.m. There was no one in attendance at any of these meetings.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Recommendation adoption of the 2019 millage rate of 8.99 mills.
