Title

Recognition of Rhyne Park Girls 8u Softball Team, "The Survivors"

Body

ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:  11 girls, ages seven and eight, make up "The Survivors" from Rhyne Park Girls Softball.  One of the players, Delaney McDonald, suggested the team name based on their pink jersey colors and in honor of her Mom who battled and beat breast cancer.  The team and parents rallied around the idea and dedicated their Spring 2021 season to breast cancer awareness.  Each family donated $1 for every run scored throughout the season - and it was a historic season for the girls, scoring 176 runs!

The Atlanta Braves also recently recognized the Survivors' efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Truist Park and matched fan donations at 100%

Total donations to Breast Cancer Research from the Survivors and Braves' efforts total $31,443
