ISSUE:  A request for proposal - RFP #19-001 “Smyrna History Museum Renovation Project” was put out to bid for a project involving a complete renovation of the Smyrna History Museum including exhibit design.

The bid belonging to Building Four Fabrication, LLC was selected for the project. It was the second lowest bid. The project has been given a 7-month timeline.

BACKGROUND:  A committee of Smyrna staff has unanimously selected Building Four Fabrication, LLC as the winner of the Smyrna History Museum RFP # 19-001 Renovation Project.

Building Four is located in Chamblee, Georgia and offers a full range of exhibit design and fabrication.

Their bid was the second lowest at $ 185,000 and a timeline of seven months.

Building Four has most recently worked on the temporary exhibit, Barbecue Nation at the Atlanta History Center and their work proved to be of such high-quality that they have been rehired by the Atlanta History Center to complete the critical restoration of the diorama for the Cyclorama project.

Lead curator for Building Four Fabrication, Johnathan Scott, has previously worked as Lead Curator on Barbecue Nation and as the Curator for the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw. Jeremy Underwood, who will serve as Project Manager, previously worked as The Exhibitions Project manager for the Atlanta History Center. Both these men bring knowledge and experience working on exhibitions for local Georgia history.
