ISSUE: The Smyrna Police Department is in the process of the final application for the pre-approval of Federal Funds in the amount of $15,329.00 for the purchase of a Wanco Message Board Sign and Trailer. A requirement of the grant is that it is open to the public comment and approved by the governing body.
BACKGROUND: The Smyrna Police Department has applied for and is in the final process of approval for the FY2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. The police Department has applied for the grant in anticipation of using the funds to purchase a Wanco Message Board Sign and Trailer. This trailer sign will be used to warn the public of traffic hazards and to provide information during public events. A requirement of the grant is that it is open to the public comment and approved by the governing body.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Staff recommends Mayor and Council to approve the FY18 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant award for $15,329.00
