ISSUE: Award RFP 15-046 to Sears Pool Management for Replastering Work at the Wolfe Center Pool. This is a Parks Improvement SPLOST funded project at a cost of $20,982.00.
BACKGROUND: The plaster bottom and walls of the pool are showing signs of wear. Mottled patches and small holes are presenting at a rapid rate. Work requirements include etching of the pool shell surface, patching in the pool wall, replastering all the entire pool shell surface, tile work where required, and the provision of chemicals to rebalance water. Two (2) responses to the RFP solicitation were made. These two responses and the non-respondents are in the Purchasing Agent's Bid tab attached.
This replastering work will coincide with 3 independent projects that will happen simultaneously; the replacement and installation of a sand filter tank, the replacement and installation of a pool boiler and related piping, and the addition of overhead lighting in the pool space. For this coordinated project, the pool will require a 3 week closure at a time to be determined. Late August or early September is the current target for closure.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Parks and Recreation staff and the Purchasing Agent recommend approval of RFP 15-046 to Sears Pool Management Consultants for replastering work at the Wolfe Center Pool. The cost is $20,982.00
