Approval for the City of Smyrna to continue as a member of the Cobb Urban County CDBG Program and authorize the Mayor to sign the Cooperation Agreements.

ISSUE:
Every 3 years, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides cities who are participating members of their Urban County CDBG Program with the opportunity to remain as a member of the program or to exclude themselves from the program. The City received a letter from the Cobb County CDBG Program Office dated May 16, 2014 informing us that it was time for the City to requalify as a member of the Cobb Urban County CDBG participant.
BACKGROUND:
The City has participated in the Urban County CDBG Program for many years. The City has enjoyed working with the Cobb County CDBG Office and we would like to continue to receive CDBG funds to finance public improvement projects for low to moderate income families in the City of Smyrna.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:
Staff recommends approval for the City to continue as a member of the Cobb Urban County CDBG Program and authorize the Mayor to sign the Cooperation Agreements.
