Recognition of the 2018-2019 Smyrna Youth Council
BACKGROUND:
The Smyrna Youth Council offers a means for Smyrna’s high school students to learn about government while representing and articulating the needs of the community’s youth. The Smyrna Youth Council provides selected members an opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities through team discussion, connect to the community through project and event planning, and acquire a greater knowledge and appreciation for the political system.
Members of the 2018-2019 Smyrna Youth Council have been selected and begun meeting to discuss initiatives for the year. These students have an interest in learning about local government and possess potential leadership skills. Here are this year’s Smyrna Youth Council members:

• Emily Damron, Campbell High School - Youth Council Mayor Pro-Tem
• Adria Stevens, Whitefield Academy - Secretary
• Nai'la Morris, Atlanta International School - Treasurer
• Shriya Patel, Campbell High School - Communications Chair
• Siri Gulledge, Whitefield Academy - Community Service and Outreach Chair
• Lilly David, Whitefield Academy
• Kiran Gourisankar, Campbell High School
• Payton Nicholson, Campbell High School
• William Taylor, Campbell High School
• Adiyah Thomas, Whitefield Academy

I do affirm, that I desire to be a member of the Smyrna Youth Council; that I will honestly and faithfully perform the duties assigned to me; that I will abide by the rules which governs Smyrna Youth Council members; and that I will be a good role model for all youth in Smyrna.
