Title

Approval to revise Personnel Policy EMP 6-01 Shift Differential Pay and authorize the Mayor to execute related document

Body

ISSUE:  Revision to policy to reflect specialty pay for SWAT duties and update per hour rates for speciality pay of Police Training Officers

BACKGROUND: A revision to this policy is needed to reflect specialty pay for SWAT duties, as well as update per hour rates for speciality pay of Police Training Officers. *Previously identified as "Field Training Officers", the Police department has renamed this duty as "Police Training Officer" (PTO), and proposes an increase from $1/hour to $2/hour when performing this duty. This new rate increase was included and approved by the Mayor and City Council in the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget.

*The updated policy would also rename training officers for 911 as "Communication Training Officers" (CTO). Rate per hour for training would remain $1.00 per hour.

*The updated policy also removes wording relating to motorcycle duty since the City no longer has a motorcycle division.

*New title is proposed to more accurately reflect the contents of the policy. New title would be "Shift Differential / Specialty Pay"
