Approval of 2016 Smyrna Community Event Dates

ISSUE: Approval of 2016 Smyrna community events.
BACKGROUND:
The following is a list of proposed event dates for 2016 City of Smyrna Community events organized by or through the Community Relations Department including several annual events organized by or through the Parks & Recreation Department, all previously reviewed by Council. The following dates (upon approval) should be reserved by Parks & Recreation facility management and noted and planned for by all impacted and/or services and facilities supplying City of Smyrna departments, as has been the practice in previous years.
Community event dates hold a traditional selection pattern that has been followed for 2016 with the exception of adjustment for holiday weeks at the end of May (impacting the first week in June) and July (July 4th week). These two concert dates have been adjusted to avoid overlap with the referenced holiday weeks. The exception to holiday week adjustment is the Memorial Day Ceremony to be held on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016 which is a City of Smyrna observed holiday.
Staff recommends and requests approval of the following event dates for 2016 (with notation made for events requiring street closings) and approval of all associated staff actions in support of delivery and/or production:
Saturday, March 19 (rain date Sat., March 26) - Easter Egg Hunt, Tolleson Park
*Saturday, April 23, 2016 - Jonquil City Jog
*Saturday, April 23 & Sunday, April 24, 2016 - Spring Jonquil Festival
Tuesdays from May 3 - Sept. 27 - Food Truck Tuesdays
Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 - Arthur Bacon Golf Tournament
*Monday, May 30, 2016 - Memorial Day
*Saturday, June 11, 2016 - 1st Concert
*Saturday, July 16, 2016 - 2nd Concert
