Title
Approval to award Cooperative Contract to Game Time in the amount of $84,561.29 for Shade Additions to Existing Playgrounds
Body
ISSUE: Using the US Communities Bid System, it is recommended that the Game Time Company shade umbrellas and associated posts be installed in six (6) playgrounds. Shade systems will match existing conditions and structures where fourteen (14) umbrellas are to be installed. These six (6) playgrounds are manufactured by Gametime. SPLOST funds will be used for this purchase.
BACKGROUND: Those parks included for shade systems are Brinkley Park, Jonquil, Lake Court, River Line, Rose Garden, and Taylor-Brawner Park. Use of shade beyond what may exist from adjacent tree cover or small rooftop canopies purchased originally, equipment is needed to safeguard users from the affects of the sun. Additional shade will also cool play equipment so that children and their families can use the playgrounds more often during the hotter months of the year. Staff located the specific locations where each umbrella should be installed in order to maximize shade at each park playground.
Use of this cooperative contract, (US Communities) and additional discounts by Game Time, $11,668.56 has been reduced from this contract quote.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Purchase fourteen (14) umbrellas, posts and associated labor from Game Time using the US Communities cooperative contract.
