ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
A special event highlighting televised games has been requested. An LED screen and a means to legally broadcast games has been secured. A band has been booked. The following outlines the activity, schedule and how it is being marketed. Cost of the event is covered by Parks & Recreation table sales for summer concerts.

3:00 pm - Gates Open (no admission)
3:30 pm - Watch three big college games
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Live Music at the fountain
7:00 pm - Watch another big college game!

“Smyrna Citizens:
We have some bad news and some good news.

First, the bad news…we love our local restaurants and have been looking forward to the annual Taste of Smyrna all-day food tasting celebration on September 18, but due to the labor market and difficult staffing struggles across the restaurant industry, the 2021 Taste of Smyrna event is cancelled. We share with the organizer sadness over the need to cancel but are looking forward to offering the event again in 2022.

Now the good news - You can still enjoy the downtown on the 18th and support some local restaurants, too!

Please plan to enjoy the downtown at a different open-air event instead. Join us in the Market Village and enjoy a couple hours of live music and even more hours of college football on Sat., Sept. 18 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at “College Football Saturday.” There’s no charge for admission and you can walk inside/outside the event and around the downtown or just stay close to the 15’ x 8’ LED screen or on a patio at one of the restaurants in the Market Village to watch some notable college football ...
