Approval of Resolution 2017-14 in Support of the City’s Application to the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing and have the Mayor sign all related documents.

ISSUEThis resolution would declare the Mayor and Council’s formal support for the City’s application to participate in the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing. This resolution will strengthen the City’s official application to a competitive program.

 

BACKGROUNDThe Georgia Initiative for Community Housing is a program organized by the University of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. It is a three-year program that involves the formation of a community housing team made up of local stakeholders and representatives. The housing team participates in a bi-annual retreat as well as local facilitated meetings to learn about the housing issues that affect their community and develop forward-looking ideas and recommendations for the Mayor and City Council to consider.

 

RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:  Staff and Administration recommend approval.
