Approval to fix and publish qualifying fees for upcoming 2019 City General Election for Mayor and Council seats the qualifying fee for Mayor will be set at $756.00 and for Council $567.00.

ISSUE: Pursuant to OCGA 21-2-131 (a) (1), the governing authority of any county or municipality, not later than February 1 of any year in which a general election is to be held should fix qualifying fees
BACKGROUND: The fee for municipalities should be 3 percent of the total gross salary of the office paid in the preceding calendar year including all supplements authorized by law if a salaried office
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Move to approve the fixing and advertisement of the qualifying fees for the 2019 City General Election, November 5, 2015 being based on salary structure for the year 2018 estimated for $756 for Mayor and $567 for council, Wards 1-7.
