ISSUE: Approval to purchase two vehicles from Smyrna Car Dealership for a total cost of $50,000.00 for use by two uniform patrol officers.
BACKGROUND: The Smyrna Police Department has recently hired two new uniform patrol officers to meet the demands of the growing city. The purchase of two Ford Police Interceptor vehicles will help enable officers to adequately conduct operations. The total price of $50,000.00 includes $25,000.00 for each vehicle, which is a slight increase from previous years.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION: Purchasing and the Police Department recommend that the Smyrna Police Department purchase two vehicles from Smyrna Car Dealership. Both vehicles will be the Ford Police Interceptor Package.
The Police Interceptor Package will be as follows:
* 2018 model year
* Price per vehicle will be $25,000.00
* 3.7L engine and will be All-Wheel Drive
* Total cost for the two units will be $50,000.00
Smyrna Car Dealership estimates a six to eight week delivery date from the date order is received.
