ISSUE: Replacement and upgrade of surveillance video system. Current system is unable to meet retention needs and the ability to retrieve files is unreliable. The system fails to cover all aspects of the interior of the facility. Incidents and accidents have occurred over the last few years and the actions of participants were not retainable with current camera system.
Analog Video Encoders will be installed to enhance analog camera information and new digital cameras will replace cameras in living areas to ensure capture of evidential data. These new encoders and cameras will give the control officer the ability to view concerns clearly without distortion. Digital replacement cameras will be placed in the living quarters with 360 view of the dorm. Those areas of privacy will be blacked out providing privacy for inmates and alleviate the officers from having to view the areas of privacy.
A 24 TB Video Recorder will be installed to capture information from the cameras. This recorder will be able to hold 180 days of data to meet the retention schedule set forth by the State of Georgia. The ability to copy and mark files will assist the agency in retaining files of importance. Currently there is not type of encryption on the video system and its evidential value is compromised. With the new system the files saved will be encrypted to maintain evidential integrity.
I am requesting to start ordering equipment as soon as possible and starting installation in November. Existing wiring will be utilized with the analog cameras and new CAT5 wiring will replace current wiring to install new cameras. The D...
