Title

Recognition of the Smyrna Arts Council and local artists for the inaugural City Hall Art Exhibit.

Body

ISSUE

The City of Smyrna Mayor and City Council wishes to recognize and thank the Smyrna Arts Council for working with the City of Smyrna to create an exhibit space for community artists in City Hall, as well as to recognize and thank the exhibiting artists for sharing their works of art with the community.

 

Joan Stuart is the president of the Smyrna Arts Council and Nancy McGee coordinated the project in collaboration with City Administration.

 

The inaugural exhibit consists of 23 works of art by 12 local/regional artists and includes acrylic and oil paintings, pastel, photos, and quilts.

BACKGROUND

The City installed an exhibit display system in several public areas of the City Hall building where residents, visitors, and city employees can enjoy works of art by community artists. The art is scheduled to rotate every three months.

 

The Smyrna Arts Council is responsible for requesting submissions from the art community and for the selection of the works of art for display.
