Body
ISSUE / BACKGROUND: The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration made the recommendation to divide polling location Smyrna 3A precinct in order to form Smyrna 3B precinct. The Smyrna 3A precinct currently has 6,535 active voters. The new facility housing precinct Smyrna 3B, Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 810 Church Street SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 will accommodate the registered voter base of 2,319. The remaining 4,216 voters will be accommodated by Smyrna Community Center located at 200 Village Green Circle SE, Smyrna, GA 30080. Although not required by law to divide the precinct, this change is for easier election administration and convenience of the voters.

This change was effective January 14, 2020 after approval by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners at the January 13, 2020 Commission Meeting. The Board of Elections and Registration held a public hearing on January 13, 2020 to hear objections to this change. This change was properly noticed once a week for two consecutive weeks in the legal organ prior to being adopted on January 13, 2020.
Voters will be notified prior to the next election. Notification of this change will include sending new precinct cards to all affected registered voters in the Smyrna 3B precinct, posting signs at and near the old polling location at the first effective election, providing information on the Cobb Elections website, among other notification techniques.
