Approval to hire Ms. Andrea Worthy as the Economic Development Director for the City of Smyrna.

ISSUE / BACKGROUND:
Following the retirement of Economic Development Coordinator Tom Boland in November 2020, a search was conducted to fill the position and the Mayor and Council voted to make the position a Director position moving forward.
Qualified candidates went through interviews with the Interim City Administrator, Interim Assistant City Administrator, Human Resources Director and Community Development Director. Upon completion of all interviews, the candidate was introduced to Mayor and Council on December 2, 2020 and they were given her resume and a time frame of approximately 15 days to speak to her and ask any additional questions. The position was offered to Ms. Andrea Worthy who is currently serving with the City of Sandy Springs.
RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:
Staff recommends approval to hire Ms. Andrea Worthy as the Economic Development Director for the City of Smyrna.
