Title
Public Hearing - Approval of code amendments the City Code of Ordinances to move variance requests from the License and Variance Board to the Mayor and City Council beginning May 3, 2021.

ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
The proposed code amendments will move all variance requests and appeals of administrative decisions from the City's Code of Ordinances from the License and Variance Board and to the Mayor and City Council for final action. These variance requests include variances from the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance, Property Maintenance Code, Stream Buffer Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and Urban Design District. In addition, the proposed code amendments will rename the License and Variance Board to the License Board, which will just process licensing requests.
Should the proposed code amendment be approved by the City Council, the variance requests will begin to be heard by the City Council at the May 3, 2021 Council Meeting. The proposed text amendments have been sent to the City Attorney for review and comment.
RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: Community Development recommends approval of the proposed code changes related to the variance process.
