Proclamation in Recognition of Mrs. Lisa Rogers, recipient of the Gifted Program Teacher of the Year 2020

 

Body

ISSUE:  Proclamation is sponsored by Councilman Travis Lindley.  Mrs. Lisa Rogers of Smyrna Elementary was named Gifted Program Teacher of the Year 2020 by the Georgia Association of Gifted Children (GAGC).  The Gifted Program Teacher of the Year Award is presented to a gifted education teacher who has demonstrated exceptional teaching, dedication, and positive parent relations in his/her school, community, or the state of Georgia.

 

 

BACKGROUND:  Mrs. Rogers has been a teacher in Cobb County for 19 years including Smyrna Elementary where she's taught for the past 4 years, King Springs Elementary, Campbell Middle School and Milford Elementary.  Mrs. Rogers and her family have lived in Smyrna for 22 years.  (see attached Proclamation for more details on awards/recognitions).

 

 

RECOMMENDATION/REQUESTED ACTION:  Present Proclamation and Honorary Mayor's Education Award to Mrs. Rogers; recognize Principal Sharon Arduino and Assistant Principal Ashley Ford who will also be in attendance.
